election year, and dare to ask an even greater question: What can
postmodern America, this stumbling, roused, half-conscious giant, yet give
to the world?"
We will put enormous sheets of paper up on the wall and pass out
markers. Write down your ideas and pictures: what is American Dream? We

| "The time has finally come. Tickets for
this year's Burning Man will be made available on January 17,
10AM PST [that's noon our time]. On your mark, get ready and ... "
The link is: tickets.burningman.com. "If our first allotment of $195
tickets sells out, a second gate will silently slide open, offering
another 10,000 tickets for $225 apiece. Finally, when the last gate is
automatically triggered, yet another 10,000 tickets will be available at
$250."
OK cats here how it works. When you log on to get tickets you will be
placed in an electronic line, and you will be able to see where you are in
line, and how many people are in front of you. The line moves up as fast
as their server can process the orders. However when 10,000 people log on
at once, it may take a while to move up to the front of the line. At least
(so they say) you should be able to watch your progress, unlike last year
when the screen just sat there sort of frozen-looking, so you couldn't
really tell if it WAS frozen, or if you were still moving up in the line.
This year's ticketing should be a lot less frustrating.
So buy yer ticket already! C'mon.... $225 for an ENTIRE WEEK!? in the
wildest place on the planet? Stop yer complainin'. Try going to Cancun for
that!
Also, we WILL be trying out for a commissioned art piece again, and
invite the whole WI community to join us in making it. Basically, a
cornstalk... with one gigantic human-sized ear with a human face at one
end. It will talk and explain how it is a genetically modified corn,
crossed with human proteins to be more nutritious... but please don't eat
me yet, I'm not ready...What's it like to live more than one season? I
don't know, I'm just an ear of corn... etc. It will alternate between
boasting, and being a bit sad... And it fits well with the Green Man theme
for this year. So if you want to help create this, let us know! |
| SUNDAY JAN 21-- IMMERSION. Return to the desert. A desert simulation
experience with all our experimental/interactive art pieces fired up and
running. Beware the dust storms! Playa attire encouraged. Get a foretaste
of BM 2007. BYOB and/or food treats and art to share. 7pm-11pm. |
